Dance to a Christmas song

Every year at Christmas time the adults danced. Watching them dance was a feast for the eyes and ears. The music was beautiful and full of cheer,  the dancing amazing.  Ballroom dancing was something of a hobby before us kids arrived. Dancing was far more popular in our early years growing up. Once we learnt how to do it, we enjoyed it just as much. On Wednesday,  Friday or Saturday nights we could go to the dances, which was held at the school hall. As teenagers most of us was just awkward and once we got over that, this was an activity we look forward to. It also helped us to burn off a lot of excess energy and kept us all fit.  Socially we could spend time with friends and have fun together. It was a good way for many to meet someone new.  It is sad we do not dance, as we did before. Dance halls have disappeared from the communities completely,  maybe we can bring them back?  So on the ninth day of December the advent calendar said: Dance to Christmas music.
First thing in the morning I had the music going and danced around the kitchen, while making banana bread. The bananas just went ripe overnight,  so they had to be rescued. Only one way to do that,  bake bread with them.
My friend Kate, knitted this wee cable sweater. She told me she knitted it on knitting needles and it has even a cable on the front. It hangs on her Christmas tree on a tiny hanger, love the stripes.  Her advise is to practice regularly and knit everyday,  you can see her creations on Arts and Socks blog.
Started to machine quilt the Sugaridoo QAL,  by machine. So far it is all just straight lines to remove most of the safety pins from the quilt. After this is done, will do some echo quilting and then add the freemotion quilting. The walking foot came with one just for in the ditch quilting.  It will be a good quilt to practice using it as this is a very modern quilt and has lots of shapes on it.
It is one thing on my list for 2020 to work on. Hoping to finish it before Christmas. This is the one project which will be going to the spare room,  as it turned out to be the perfect size for the double bed, this was a happy design opportunity. Maybe the quilting fairy helped? This is part of the label for the 365Quilt Challenge, quilt.
