Blue and then some more blue blue blocks have been sewn these past couple of weeks. All the blocks are sewn, they will be sewn together soon. (The Splendid Sampler was another quilt-a-long which was started the same year). It had two blocks a week, after 50 blocks, that one was done for me. So it was packed up and put away until the time arrived when I knew how the blocks had to put together. In September while we were out West, it had its own "aha" moment. So this top will get finished up as well, after 365.

This past week has been very difficult, as my Dad passed away. Losing a parent is never easy, we lost our Mom many years ago, so he was our last link. As we come from a large family, many siblings all over the world, he was the connection.
The funny part, he was a quiet man. After Mom passed, all of a sudden he had to be the one to chat to. It took a while, as he realized, we all would be calling and visiting very often. We are a close family, we hug a lot and say I love you, lots and accept everyone with all their quirks.
Life is short and tomorrow may never come, so don't hold back. Live life with passion, do it your way and knowingly, do it in a way you do not have any regrets. Do all the things you need and want to do, with love and a good heart. Treat people, the way you wish to be treated, with kindness and grace.
The hardest part, we can not pick up the phone and call him, just the thought of never hearing his voice, is the part which trips us up and makes our hearts shudder. Until we meet again, you left and went to Heaven, now a piece of Heaven lives in our homes, we miss you...
in Loving memory, Oupa Hans, 1936-2019.

This year for Christmas everyone asked for, tea cosy's. Some family members who are in on the surprise has been helping to get the measurements for said tea pots. They find very creative ways to get their hands on the teapots and then measure them. Funny how we all have big small, large and tall teapots. Not one the same. One can buy them, but these ones will be homemade, with each persons favourite colours and themes.
We recently went to Dickens, a unique tea shop and had some lunch or high tea. Served in bone china cups with saucers and tea, taking time to just savor the brew and enjoying time spent relaxing and chatting. The treats disappeared before a picture was taken. It was very good, not a crumb was left behind!
Just before leaving the shop, they have a sweetie section, so much to choose from and any flavour one could think of, it just brought out the little kid out in all of us.
