A quiet week.

This week was a quiet one, with weather that was just: we are not ready for snow and cold weather yet! The warm weather has returned for a couple of days, thank goodness. Kate Selene has been inspired to knit baubles, I have tried her method, here is my pumpkin?

The mitten I knitted, got hubby to try it on. It was too pointy at the top and the thumb was too short, so it is now unravelled and a second attempt will be made in a short while.
Jeopardy quilting continue, the first two rounds is now complete. Third round was started this past week. With the cold weather, it was a great way to keep warm and quilt at the same time. Our cat's expression when she realised the fireplace was turned on was a sight to see. Needless to say she was very happy with it. Over the summer she made friends with the black squirrel and stopped chasing it, until yesterday. The squirrel was not expecting the cat to chase it, so it must have come as a bit of a shock! Junko's are little birds which we only see in the winter up north, not here. We have a flock which arrived and they are eating like there is no tomorrow. They have been cleaning up every bit of seed and even scratch the soil like chickens do to find any rogue seeds. They are on their way up north, so winter is definitely on its way.
The next three diamonds have been made, for Tahoe.
This is what it looks like as a larger diamond.
Where the next group of diamonds fit into the bigger picture.
This diamond quilt was inspired by Jane Austin quilt, the center is all EPP and this quilt is now over twenty one years old. It has been well loved and will be retired soon. It needs some pieces replaced as well, it has been so well loved over many years.
The hexie project now has the green round sewn on. Will work again on this one next year, it is a longterm project. Our trees have just a few leaves left on them, the veggie patch has some more tomato plants which will be pulled up today as the weather is sunny and we are expecting 20C!

Mittens.

Working on the arcs for the wedding ring quilt and stars in a circle, both of these are English Paper Piecing projects.
First the blue stars in yellow circles.
Next the floral wedding ring arcs, slowly working on a few each month.
With all the rain this week, we had a downy woody woodpecker on the suet feeder.
My first attempt at a mitten, I have some polar fleece to make a lining to fit inside the mitt, have no idea what the end result will be. We woke up to the trees starting to looking very bare after the wind and rainy weather.

Falling leaves.

The leaves are fluttering from the trees with ease and grace. Following one after the other, with no worries or any reason to hurry until they land gently on the ground or lawn. Some with a swirl and others with a blustery tail wind. Waking up to frosty mornings, saying goodbye to birds. One day they come looking for food, the next we are greeted with a quiet silence. They left and flew south, the remaining birds come with a song and we enjoy their company knowing we will see each other until spring arrives when the cold winter is done yet again.
All twenty fabric strips have been sewn into tubes. A total of nine sets, this is for my youngest sister's Bargello quilt. It has quite a few strips of green in it. They are now ready to be cut into strips to use for making each of the rows of the pattern.
Diamond number five for Tahoe is also done.
The layout so far for the diamonds. The diamonds is sewn into larger diamonds, four in each larger diamond. It can be sewn at the end, instead it is being done after each group of four diamonds. This makes the final assembly more seamless, it is a challenge.
Jeopardy quilting so far, have started the next round after the center. Just around the applique shapes, back ground cross hatching and in the ditch quilting. Keeping it simple, the rubbermaid has another five quilt tops that need to be quilted, excluding the one on the frame, which has not been touched for a while. The quilting thread on that one has not been a good match, so it needs a change.
Kate Selene has started a bauble knit along. So with some leftover bits of yarn, I made a Christmas pudding without a diagram. Next it will be a pair of mittens, something which I have been wanting to try for a while.

Purple pink aqua and more.

The next diamond set was finished. it is starting to create the bigger picture. The next ten strips of the bargello quilt got sewn together too.
Jeopardy quilting so far. Using painters tape to quilt in straight lines.
The two rabbits and lettuce got a start.
A parcel arrived in the mail, Kate made me another pair of socks! When hubby saw them, he asked if she used a machine? I said defintely not, she knitted them by hand. Needless to say he was super impressed with the art of hand knitted socks. Thank you Kate, the most heart warming gift. They arrived just as the cold weather did, perfect timing.

Baby steps this week.

The maple tree just before sunset. Amazing how light change the way we view colour.
The nemesis is coming along nicely for now, it will take a while and the hope is this is the final time making it. It has been unpicked and stitched multiple times, all because of incorrect instructions in the pattern published without it being tested before putting it in the magazine...
This mess was what was organized after finding a conversion chart for the rayon threads.
It was used to stitch the cute crow, will be changing his body to a lighter grey for the next design, so the details and outlines can be more prominent.
The bargello strips got sewn into more pairs after a small hiccup with the new machine. Will be working on the purple diamond after the strip sets are joined.
