Playing with the layout. With the current stay at home order, what to do about the set in triangles on the sides? Did not have the right colour to go with this. Then the extra small quarter triangle squares together with the triangle squares they created partial units yesterday. After a bout of some housekeeping, a solution came to mind. Grow the pyramids.
Adding the tan triangles worked. Have used up every extra small unit. These triangles need to be eleven and a half ? Not quite there yet.
Have sewn the strip scraps together to make the blocks larger. This can then be added to these units.
The units gets squared to the correct size before adding the next piece to the unit. Pressing the seams flat. This helps to keep the process smooth and less trimming and problems later on. The top will be a lot easier to quilt as well, with flat seams. It is easy to rush piecing, taking a little bit of extra time to piece, keeping to the same seam allowance throughout makes for more consistent blocks. As I grow older and wiser, favouring the process and doing it with more mindfulness.
The other layout, which is closer to the original pattern. Will see how far the leftover strips will go.
The scraps have stretched far further than what was anticipated. We have rain here so more sewing will happen today, as well as the springcleaning which is ongoing.
Yes. Always a good idea to check the scraps first.
