Twenty five blocks have been made, they are waiting to be joined to the sashing pieces.
The two smock dresses have arrived at their forever home and will be enjoyed by two beautiful little girls for many years to come.
As for the layout of all those mystery blocks... Above is what the end result should look like.
This is how far mine is, everything still needs to be sewn together. Used a lot more pink and faded teal greens in my version. Arctic cold is arriving tomorrow afternoon, for a snap.
that quilt is a lot of work - so many pieces
ReplyDeleteYour colors for the mystery quilt are beautiful! Looks like it's going together well. And those dresses are amazing! Arctic cold here in Colorado, too - a good weekend for lots of sewing!
ReplyDeleteIt has arrived, we are hibernating now.
DeleteLove your Old Town. Mine got started but left behind at Part 2, so it's on my mind to keep it going. I love the teals you used. It's really pretty.
ReplyDeleteI feel transported to my youth with those adorable smocked dresses. Every year the "Easter Bunny" brought me a handmade smocked party dress complete with crinoline petticoat. They were made by my maternal grandmother.
ReplyDeleteWe use to get new ones at Christmas.
DeleteAn Artic cold snap is just the weather to get your sock knitting out. I love those smocked dresses.
ReplyDeleteYour Old Town mystery quilt looks gorgeous. You really stuck to the color suggestions with your scraps. Nicely done.
ReplyDeleteI love a smocked dress. Takes me back to when my grandma made them for me. I found one of her pattern booklets. She made many smocked gingham aprons. I still have several.
What an amazing discovery and the treasures you have, love gingham. The aprons is a special gift.
DeleteI’ve always loved BH scrappy quilts and smocking in little girls dresses. I’ve done a couple quilts, but have given up. Never got to try smocking , and no little girls in my life now nor in the future. Kudos to you on both projects!
ReplyDeleteSo many tiny pieces make such beautiful and interesting quilts. Lovely smock dresses. I would be afraid they would get dirty after all that hard work. I am sure they will be love though.
ReplyDeleteThey are incredible robust, can take quite a lot of wear and tear. Many dresses gets passed down from generation to generation. Thank you for hosting the best linky party for all of us quilters. You do a phenomenal job hosting and we all have so many great finished projects both for home and the ones we give away. It is amazing how much we get to share with everyone.
DeleteGreat job on your Bonnie Hunter mystery quilt. Beautiful yarn too. Will make a pretty pair of warm socks!
ReplyDeleteWow, that block is just beautiful. I remember learning smocking many years ago and both my girls had a dress with a band on the front bodice. I wish you were near by to show me how to cast on socks. My cast ons are too loose. Great post!
