Old Town mystery is a flimsy.

Old Town mystery is a finished top. The border strips got added to the center piece this past week.
These pieces have been sitting on the cutting table for the past month.
This top can now be put into the rubbermaid to be quilted in the future.
During this week we celebrated a birthday and our wedding anniversary. Last year hubby said he wanted to go and see The Lion King, so we did just that. It was a great way to celebrate! This theater was smaller, but the production was amazing. The costumes was incredible, the detail and the way every part worked really well together.
Kate said to me the other day, when you finish one sock : cast on the next one. I did with the other yarn so when these two socks are done, their buddies will be cast on too. Have some appointments which requires small travelling project, this is it for the moment.
The borders are quilted and the center can now be quilted, decided to do the lilac bands first. It is a little bit warmer, not a lot. Enough to notice it.

Blocks and more.

Twenty five blocks have been made, they are waiting to be joined to the sashing pieces.
The two smock dresses have arrived at their forever home and will be enjoyed by two beautiful little girls for many years to come.
As for the layout of all those mystery blocks... Above is what the end result should look like.
This is how far mine is, everything still needs to be sewn together. Used a lot more pink and faded teal greens in my version. Arctic cold is arriving tomorrow afternoon, for a snap.

The mystery continues…

We know it is cold outside, we can not stay indoors all the time. So we venture outside and walk. It snows, the wind makes it worse, so we wait for pockets of sunshine and bundle up. The air is crisp and cold.
Indoors we relax, after chores has been done. Hand quilting in the hoop on my lap in the evening. This quilt is in the hoop, currently quilting in the ditch on the borders. It keeps me warm, while working on the quilting.
Everyday a half an hour of sewing, ironing or cutting has been happening. The Bonnie Hunter mystery blocks are growing.
It may take time to sew all the pieces together, but slow and steady it is all coming together.
On monday while zooming with Kate, she was sorting her scraps into containers and knitting. I was ironing these traingle squares, sorting them into print and colour groups. Groundhog day with these, they were ironed and the box is too small. They got crammed into the box to close the lid and it wrinkled quite a lot of them. They all need dog ears trimmed off them. This is the RSC23, 24, 25 project I have been working on. Have decided to work on existing projects this year, before starting new projects.
Made a peppermint crisp tart this week, was going to do it over the festive season and it did not happen then.
Read this book more than ten years a go, a friend is doing a hole program on quilts and history. This one is a good one and well worth the time to read it.

Old Town mystery.

We had another snow storm last night and more snow expected today.
The sashing pieces for the Bonnie Hunter mystery has been sewn.
Flying geese units sewn into blocks. More components to create the next part of the big blocks.
This needs to be assembled, as it is currently on top of the cutting table taking up space.
We will be spending time outdoors today clearing snow.
Some socks happening with sock free wool.
Got a pair of these scrubbers from the local dollar store, tried it to clean the fluff and lint from the cutting board in the sewing room. It did the job and works well.

Pink is the colour for RSC25.

As luck would have it, pink is the chosen colour for January. The Bonnie Hunter mystery quilt that is my current project has a lot of pink, instead of the red called for colour. So this project will be worked on for the month. Part nine and the full reveal happened this past friday.
Part nine included these pieces as well, so they need to be finished before the sewing of large blocks can commence. Played a bit with some of the pieces over the weekend.
It feels good to get to the point where the blocks can be assembled. No rush, just bit by bit. It will get done in time.
