Old quilts we see again.
These two live with two very special people, close to our hearts. The second one was made as a raffle quilt, which was won by her sister. The promise was if one of them won the raffle quilt, I would make another quilt for the sibling. (What was the chance of one of them winning it, with so many tickets sold? It was meant to be!) .The string quilt was the second quilt.
This is the string quilt made with the leftover fabrics, appliqued by machine.
The first quilt, made with dyed fabrics. It was the first attempt at dying my own fabrics for quilting (Gold, Sky Blue and Red). Also created the block design with what I had, the binding is scrappy as well. At the time this was my design, they were made 02 October 2002.
They are well loved and have aged well.

June finishes.
We have another heatwave, these peonies will be dropping their petals with the heat.
The two quilts for Ukraine is finished. This is the larger one of the two.
The binding was added last night, after seven in the evening. It was the coolest the sewing room was for the day!
The binding from the front. Sharron did and amazing job quilting these two quilts.
The smaller one if the two quilts.
The back of the quilt.
She did these funky squares in the center if the stars. These quilts will be going to some very special people very soon, to hug them and to keep them wrapped with love. We all do little things in our own way to help our fellow human beings. It all matters, it is the small things that create the bigger picture. Welcome summer, it arrived with some warm weather.

Quilts for Ukraine.
Working on the labels for the back of the quilts. When I saw the design with the sunflowers on it, it jumped right out at me. It needed to be on beautiful blue fabric. Stitching it out, it came to life. Next the words, " from our hands, to your hearts" then onto the quilts. Incredible special quilts.

Summer berries.
Applique berries for two different projects. With the heatwaves and summer here, small easy to work on pieces is what is best to work on. Have been working on a project which was started in 2013/4?
The first of the two Quilts for Ukraine is almost finished. The label needs to go on the back and then the magic binding can be added.
The front of the quilt. It was long arm quilted by Sharron (sharron.leonard4@gmail.com) . The all over design is perfect for the top. Her workmanship for a newbie is fantastic.
The quilting from the back. After trimming the excess fabric, the binding was auditioned to make sure no fabric joints ended up on any corners.
Made sure to mark the spot on the binding and the quilt where I have to start to sew the binding on the back of the quilt.

Turtles and wildflowers.
These iris flowers are blue, they look purple in the photo.
On our walks, we have been seeing many snapping turtles laying eggs along the new trails. Bunnys and beavers are a frequent sight to be seen on a daily basis.
The beavers are along this stretch of silver creek.
Wildflowers are blooming everywhere.
These are an invasive species, it is prolific in how much of it there is.
Forget me knots, so many of them. Meadows of blue as far as the eye can see. It is everywhere.
Sewing has not been top of the list, prepping berries and sewing down a few leaves. All small pieces which makes working with them easy and portable. Will get back to the sewing room on rainy days, but for now we are enjoying summer!

Bright blue and dark blue.
The blue blocks are all done for the month of June. All the components was finished earlier this year, making the blocks a breeze to finish.
Also working on other projects.
Love Entwined by Esther Aliu from Australia. She reproduced this marriage coverlet pattern from 1790.
Working on lollipops in blues and a variety of colours.
The lettuce was planted in rows, they are growng slowly.

Old projects.
We start many projects, some just end up being pushed aside while we work on all the other projects. It is great to get back to these old projects, picking up the needle and thread and carry on as if no interruptions ever occurred.
Prepped so many pieces and now these flowers are turned, ready for applique onto the background.
Finished the applique of the string leaves, added some stems.
The four corners have the leaves done until they need to be added to the sashings.
Smaller corner blocks are being worked on. Stems and flowers are needed on two of these blocks. Working only on attaching the pieces that was prepped way in day. Once it is all added, then I will be able to see what to do next on this project.

Taking things one step at a time.
The month of May slipped by and now we are into the month of June. Gardening took up a lot of time, the veggies are growing and so is all the flowers. The tulips finished blooming as soon as the heatwaves arrived.
The birdfeeders are being visited by a variety of birds. The hummingbirds arrived earlier than normal, with their arrival we knew the other birds would follow soon. The Baltimore Orioles enjoy coming and feasting with the hummingbirds.
Sewing has been fitted inbetween the time spent outdoors.
The two flimsy quilt tops, was finished and are at the long arm quilter until they are done.
Made the magic binding, it is ready to be added to the quilts.
The quilting in the hoop continued on the Spring quilt, more quilting to be done. This is what it looks like so far on the back.
The front is the rainbow colours, with prints and it is not so easy to see the quilting.
The baby blanket continue to grow. A little bit at a time. June RSC22 is bright blue, so it will get started on in the next couple of days.
