A rainbow of colour.
Finding the way has been sorted into colour groups for all the months ahead. When a colour is called for each month, the pieces will be pulled out of the box and sewn. It makes everything so much more tidy and organised.
The greens that still need to be sewn for January.
A start was made on this project last year and all the pieces which was sewn is now with all their colour group friends.
A parcel arrived in the mail from my Kate, she sent me some beautiful floss and a niffty gadget for knitting. Head over to her blog to see her beautiful knitting and quilting at

Progress on RSC24.
Love Entwined has now grown, the green leaves and a few stems have been added.
This was rated the most difficult block of the quilt. It is repeated four times, it is incredible how tiny some of the leaves and stems are.
More pieces with the corner blocks, two still require stems and some more leaves. A few berries and flowers are needed on these two corner blocks as well.
It feels great to get this project moving again.

Extremely cold outside.
Overnight it was -29C outside. Needless to say it is not friendly out there. Winter is here with a blast, we've had a bit of snow and more expected again from tomorrow. Life goes on and we do have to venture out, for an array of things. All the normal things from getting groceries to appointments. With the cold comes thoughts of serious hibernation, bears do it and we can relate to why they would want to sleep through the whole cold weather season!
Finding the way was pulled out and the paper piecing of the diamond blocks and mariners compass blocks is now well under way.
Escape into a world of colour, the brighter the better for the weather we are currently having.
These pieces remind me of the Eiffel Tower. Dreaming of travelling to some warm places...
The pumkin house so far. It is slowly growing, still need to get a few more skeins of colours that I missed, so those are on the list.

Snow coming down again, more snow expected.
The most difficult block is done, three more of the same to go! We cleaned up all the messy snow and ice. Everything was clear for almost 24 hours, the snow has been sifting down like powdered sugar all morning.
Stitching on the pumkin house continues, a few gaps will be filled in later as a gremlin entered into the mix and a few skeins of colours got missed.
Block two is done for the Birthday quilt along. Also made another pink and blue star, this is with scraps in that colour way that has been sitting in a bundle for the past year.
Last the extra pieces which are not used but one has to cut to create blocks, has been sewn into blocks as well. Ready to be used at a later date. The idea is to try to use all the bits and have very little leftovers or scraps.
Dreaming of days with warmth and green leaves on the trees and blue skies...

Snowy days.
We woke to the snow coming down at a steady pace this morning, winter is here.
While the trees and plants are sleeping, leaves are growing on the applique.
Stitching grows with stars, acorns and very soon words too.
The first two blocks for the Birthday quilt a long has been made, these will be placed in a box for when it will be assembled in a quilt. Laundry Basket Quilts is hosting the QAL.
Made a test block, this one was too big and it was trimmed to the correct size before I realized it was not going to work.
Also made a blue block, which was unpicked before trimming it. Sometimes we are busy thinking about life and then cremlins creep in. Pincushion can be made with this oops!

Baby steps.
Sunday slow stitching will continue on the pumkin house series. It will be my year long project for 2024, perfect for my pace of stitching.
Baby steps on these leaves. Four flowers with eight sets of four leaves to a branch, made a start on the first flower surrounded by the leaves.
Managed to get out for a walk, before the snow arrived this evening. Winter is here and the handquilting while watching a movie happened. The fire was on, the cat enjoy the heat and will try to get very close to said fire. She gets moved and she will then just cuddle in a lap. Our evenings follow this simple pattern, spending time together to relax and unwind from our days.

Green.
Applique for now is all about green leaves.
Many shapes and sizes. This year will be works in progress, also the RSC24 will be Finding the Way and Ancient Stars. Both got starts last year and this year each month a bit will get done on them.
Stitching has been started on the Pumkin House series.
Last year for my birthday I received a fat quarter bundle. This will be used to make a mystery quilt, one block a week. Another start will be made on Bonnie Hunters mystery quilt. A collection of scrappy fabrics has been left in a pile on the sewing table. How long has it been waiting in that spot? Since February 2023. When I got those fabrics, they came from one quilter, so to honour her they will be used together in one quilt. Today the final clue and reveal of Indigo Way was released, a few colours will be swapped out. The scraps contain no red, it has a very special dark fabric which will work for the pattern. With cold weather here, it will get ironed and then the cutting will start. Sewing will start of the blocks in the coming days.
