Another mystery begins…

This year the Bonnie Hunter mystery started a week earlier, for me this is better. A pile of fabric that has been sitting next to my sewing machine is finally being used.

Part one is sewn and finished. First it was going to be the quick method, except the light and teal green colours got swopped around. In order to get the correct amount of flying geese, a creative solution meant reusing what was cut and what was left over. So the old way of making flying geese was used. The corners was cut off in a way that each one will be the same size and made into triangle squares. So they are made as well. No waste to go in the bin.

Baked ginger cookies yesterday, these will be gifted and more will be baked soon.

The Christmas tree and the lounge got decorated as well, it is starting to look a lot like Christmas and everyone is getting into the spirit of the season.

We had some snow this weekend and the temperatures have dipped below freezing. Some parts of the province have received lots and lots of snow.

Time to pull out the handquilting for the evening Christmas movie watch time.

Sorted the linen closet and found these pillowcovers made quite a few years ago.

Baby sweater.

A little baby sweater was finally finished, after having to restart it many times.

The little baby girl will be able to wear it for a short while, she was born last week. She is beautiful, healthy with a mop of hair and long eyelashes.

Started the twisted baby cuff hat from Kate. (artsandsocks.blogspot.com) This will take a bit of time, luckily it is bigger than the baby sweater and will fit her a lot longer.

A flying visit.

A close friend of our family's Mom passed away unexpected. We knew her well and she was very dear to us. So this past weekend we travelled for her celebration of life. Her favourite time of year was Christmas.

We were blessed with good weather, the sun was shining brightly and the skies were blue. There was a nip in the air, but for November to have weather like this, is a blessing. Many came from far and wide to remember her.

With a full moon to guide our path and a brilliant sunrise to wake us up. It helped lift our spirits, no matter the somber occassion or how tired we were. She rests in peace now, leaving behind a loving husband, two daughters, grandchildren and Archie. She will be missed by us all.

Oops! I ran out of yarn..

The yarn was bought on my recent trip to South Africa, a 100g ball of yarn. I figured it would be enough, except this happened with twenty more rows to go.

Needless to say, this was not going to work. So back to the drawing board. The yarn is back into a ball and it will wait until something else pops up to knit.

We Remember!

Our ancestors had strong moral values, they believed in freedom and lived their lives by it. They did not hesitate to join their countries calls for them to unite and fight for what is right and make our world a better place to live in. The last two world wars was a reality and they wanted all of us to have a better world to live in, a free world without wars! Today we honour them and we salute them, the sacrifice they made for us. We respect them. They understood more than anybody else, just what the price of freedom entailed. Many of them gave their lives, for the gift of freedom. We will continue to work hard to honour them and the sacrifice they made for all of us! Thank you for our, past, today and our tomorrow. We are humbled and blessed by your gift to all of us, a future and the promise of a better world we can all call home. May we guard this gift for future generations to come!

Birthday blocks…

Earlier this year I started the Birthday blocks quilt along.

Two blocks got made and then life got really busy. This week when the world was going crazy, the cutting table got cleared and some more blocks got cut and sewn.

Three more blocks happened.

Also started a seven hour toddler sweater.

In the garden this week before the frost got to the last of the cosmos flowers, a bumblebee was still visiting the flowers...

Slowly getting back into the swing of things.

On the cutting table leftover Winnie the Pooh quilt fabrics have been waiting to be used to create a fabric basket, over the course of the weekend it finally happened. It will be used to place a few gifts in for a little baby girl.

Found this outfit on a recent trip to South Africa.

Also started and finished my very first child mitten.

A few things followed me home from Gitta's. Some pieces of edged aida cloth for decorations, it is easy to stitch on this soft fabric.

A magazine and some embroidery blank towels. The samples in the magazine is shown with mushrooms on them, in the magazine is some beautiful sunflowers which caught my eye!
