Stars and a train case.

A Chatelaine design, these are beautiful pieces to stitch. They are incredibly popular and have lots of unexpected details and speciality stitches, beads and are fun to stitch. Started the Serengeti Chatelaine earlier this year.
Yesterday, I finally made a Scandanavian Star with scraps of fabric. Wanted to make one for many years now, just never got round to it. It requires no sewing, just four strips of fabric. Only question: Why did it take so long?
The front and back of the finished star.
The train case was a start somewhere at the beginning of the year?
Got some more Bosal foam, so now it can go ahead and be worked on. The size is of the printed panel which is what inspired the case, with the border strip of preprinted pictures of quilts and nature. After quilting the pieces with the bosal foam, binding and a zipper was sewn to the lid first.
The top lid, bottom and sides are all prepared, ready to be assembled together. For this step clover clips are essential, it keeps everyting neatly in place. The bottom piece and the body/side panel of the train case is sewn together, with the biding for a neat edge at the top and bottom edge of the case.
A handle sewn to the one side of the train case.
Once the bottom and main case is made, the lid is attached to it. This is the final step in making the train case.
The finished train case, it is now being used to keep the Bonnie Hunter mystery quilt pieces all together until all the pieces are made and the top assembled. This is to help keep the sewing room clean, tidy and remove visual clutter. The lining and pocket inside is all made with scraps of fabric.

  2. I don't think I have ever seen the Chatelaine designs before. That is absolutely gorgeous. I love the woven star. What a pretty idea. The train case is very pretty.
