Smock dresses.
Estelle shared this beautiful smock dress with me. Everytime she made a smock dress for her granddaughter, she made a miniature version for her granddaughter's doll. What a special gift!
Two smock dresses I have been working on for a friend.
The red one just needed buttonholes and the buttons to be sewn on. That is now a finished dress!
The green one is still in the process. (The collar has hand embroidery with the red thread and some cream lace). This needed to be done, before the rest of the dress can be assembled. The collar with the lace was too big, so it had to be removed. Made a new collar, which has been sewn to the dress. This one works so much better.
Sleeves and hem were next on the list, they are done too. Buttons was bought, sewn on and did not work. Those have been removed and the completed dress will be going with to the shop, to find the right buttons for this one.
The back of the dress, it still needs buttonholes and buttons. Sometimes it just takes time to do it right.
After another round of buttons, it was time to go back to the drawing board. Fabric covered buttons was the best choice. Those were made and sewn on, the buttonholes are done. Both dresses are now finished, ready to go to two little girls for a friends granddaughters.

Another mystery begins…
This year the Bonnie Hunter mystery started a week earlier, for me this is better. A pile of fabric that has been sitting next to my sewing machine is finally being used.
Part one is sewn and finished. First it was going to be the quick method, except the light and teal green colours got swopped around. In order to get the correct amount of flying geese, a creative solution meant reusing what was cut and what was left over. So the old way of making flying geese was used. The corners was cut off in a way that each one will be the same size and made into triangle squares. So they are made as well. No waste to go in the bin.
Baked ginger cookies yesterday, these will be gifted and more will be baked soon.
The Christmas tree and the lounge got decorated as well, it is starting to look a lot like Christmas and everyone is getting into the spirit of the season.
We had some snow this weekend and the temperatures have dipped below freezing. Some parts of the province have received lots and lots of snow.
Time to pull out the handquilting for the evening Christmas movie watch time.
Sorted the linen closet and found these pillowcovers made quite a few years ago.
