The birthday quilt.
A yellow rose blooming. The scent was amazing, sunshine and roses.
First up all the hand quilting around all the applique shapes.
Then all the machine quilting around the shapes and the background.
Binding all made and ready to be sewn on the finished quilt. Binding sewn on below.
On a walk, the baby beaver came out to play and greet us.
It was super peaceful and quiet.

Have a little faith.
On the 16th of February 2023 Peter Rabbit baby quilt was sent to South Africa, small parcel air. I was told it would take no more than three weeks to get there. Alas the post office went bust and closed permanently.
It was never delivered and someone did rip a corner open, took a look inside and decided it was not for them. They also said the address did not exist? My niece lived at this address from 2015? So it was sent back. Yesterday when I opened the community post box, there it was. Our postman did not know why it came back, so I explained to him what had happened. The post office offers a service where by you can ask for a parcel not delivered to be returned to you, it is just a box on their system that they tick on the computer. This was the only quilt ever to get lost which was sent by mail.
Welcome home Peter Rabbit! A replacement quilt was made already and it will be delivered shortly.
Work on the birthday quilt continue, quilting around the applique on the top.
Made some soup with potato, zucchini and onion for dinner last night.

Works in progress.
Rag quilts are making a great way to use flannel. This was my first rag quilt from years ago.
The blocking of the smock dresses are done. They have been packed away until a future date in October for work to carry on these three.
The birthday quilt has been pin basted and layered.
Hand quilting around all the shapes is the first bit of quilting. After that it will be machine quilted for it to be finished on time. Below is the birthday cake which I baked recently, except I forgot to transfer in on to a plate before the frosting started. It was still on the cooling rack, what a rookie mistake. A few hours after frosting it, it came to me. So I placed some parchment paper on top of the cake with a plate, lifted the cake, cooling rack and plate with parchment paper and tipped it upside down. This allowed me to remove the cooling rack, which was replaced with the cake plate and tipped the cake right side up. Luckily it worked, the cake was yummy!

The Hobby Horse.
The farm with the buildings as they are today. The fabric was created from ink drawings before the shop was built in the side of the barn.
The Hobby Horse Quilt Shoppe is one of my two local quilt shops. Exciting news, they had fabric with the farm printed on fabric and is selling it. I popped into the shop and got a piece for a vinyl project bag.
The sorting continue and so do the tidy process.
The purple birthday quilt is now a flimsy with the date and name on it.
Birthday card that purr and speak...cat

Fishing.
This panel came home from the clearance section at the quilt shop a while back. Discovered the matching fabric in my sewing room.
Quilted it and used some pieces of fabrics leftover from older projects for the border fabric and binding.
The front and back of the finished quilt, all ready to be gifted in the future.
The smocking on the green dress is now done, including the embroidery.
On a lovely walk yesterday, these roses was blooming.

September is here.
The Zinnia's have flowered the best this summer, especially late in the season.
The playmat quilt is now almost done, it just needs the label sewn onto the back of the quilt.
Baked a custard tart last night, it is long weekend here. Perfect with tea this afternoon.
Smocking continue on this green dress.
The male bumblebees have been busy, they are a lot bigger this year than we have ever seen them in the past.
