Fall is here.

The leaves are turning colour and it has been a lot cooler this past week.
The next quilt is in the hoop, the first stitches was quilted while we watched Jeopardy. A half an hour every evening will get some quilting done for the next couple of months.
The green hexies is slowly being sewn together too.
My youngest sisters quilt, it is a Bargello. The first ten strips are sewn together, another ten to go.
My eldest sister, diamond number three is done for Tahoe.
Our cat keeping me company. It has been rainy and cloudy for the first week of fall, so we are soending more time indoors.

The season is changing.

Planted seeds for these when we could not find red cone flowers. The first flower is blooming and it is an intense orange almost red. The leaves are turning on the maple trees and fall is in the air.
Basted and layered the next quilt to be hand quilted, this one was made a while back and has been waiting for its turn to be quilted. Will make a start on it in the next week.
A parcel arrived yesterday with a special tool in it, which I will share more about soon.
The second diamond for Tahoe is done.
Sewed the next two strips together for the Bargello quilt.
Prepped two blue diamonds for the pretty quilt. All the pieces are being starched now as well, hoping to have more success with stabilizing all the curves.
The enders and leaders are all trimmed to the same size.
The snips and trimmings at the end of the top and tail process.
Last but not least, the mouse and apple is stitched...

September Starts.

Two, no make that three starts. Found this collection of triangle squares which will all be sewn into pinwheels. They popped up when the sewing room got tidy up this past couple of days. Will use this for enders and leaders for the two September starts.
The other two starts have the first bit of sewing work done by machine The bargello first set of strips (1 & 2) is sewn together, many to go still.
The second start is the first round of diamond blocks. In total there are 24 rounds of diamonds, with eight finished diamonds in each round.
The acrylic template is sold seperately for Tahoe on Laundry Basket Quilts website.
All the seams on Tahoe is ironed open and flat.
The sewing room all tidy and ready for work on these projects. It is one of the last rooms in the house that have not been painted yet.

Two projects for the next six months?

For the next couple of months two quilts for my sisters will be my main projects.
This one was cut out months ago, a Bargello quilt in aqua, blues and greys. Life happened and it was stopped, sewed a total of four strips together.
Lightning Strikes by Chris Timmins, it also has a wall hanging size pattern called Jacaranda Sky.
The second quilt will be a purple and pink Tahoe quilt from Laundry Basket Quilts. Starching and cutting of all the blocks is done. The sewing room is looking a bit cluttered, so before work on these two can start it needs to be cleared. Especially now that all the Omygosh blocks are sewn into a quilt top. This top for now will be joining others in the rubbermaid for its turn to be quilted. Found another hexie project with all the bright colours in the box that contaiined Omygosh fabrics and blocks.

Borders on.

Omygosh has the triple border on. When making this quilt, the number of pieces was not important rather whether it could use up a lot of scraps. Hoping it would use all of them was a pipe dream, still a joke as the scraps reduced but they are not gone yet. Just the blocks without the border fabrics = 19890 pieces!
Started the next element on Four Seasons, it is an apple with a mouse.
Found some more fabrics for Tahoe.
All of them starched, made my own with (two and half cups water and one and a half tablespoons of cornstarch, place in a pot on the stove. Wisking the mixture to removethe lumps and stirring it until it just comes to the boil. Remove from heat and allow to cool down. Then fill a spray bottle and use as one would shop bought starch). It works well, no streaks or dry flaky bits. Ready for cutting.
It is long weekend and everyone that can is enjoying a relaxing day today!

A finish.

This quilt is finished. The last machine quilting happened this past week and it has been washed and is now on the bed.
Vintage Moments, front and back of the quilt.
It was started early 2003/4? This is another older project that is now a quilt.
A new project which will be started in the coming week, it has a few more additions to the collection of fabrics. They will need to be starched before any work can begin.
Omygosh RSC21 and RSC22 colour challenge blocks are now sewn into a flimsy. The borders for it is cut, using fabrics from my stash. Also found binding for the border fabric which was made for another quilt, there is enough binding for this quilt. Glad the binding can now be used for this quilt.
