How far can a Ball of Wool go?...

I started with a ball of wool (aka Bamboo), to knit this Carriage Blanket.  My knitting skills require me to make use of You-Tube, A-Z of knitting, time and a  healthy dose of patience.  On the side of the ball of wool, it indicates how many meters/yards of wool on a ball.  When I decided to do this pattern, I showed it to the lady at the wool shop.  She said you need four balls of wool.  Well looking at the size of the balls of wool, I was not too sure how this was going to work.  The balls looked too small to me...
What a surprise to discover just how far one ball of wool stretched!
A friend made me a pair of socks, they are amazing, not only do they fit perfectly, they keep my feet warm.

Beautiful.  A lot of work goes into making a pair of socks.

Almost nine years ago, I discover German Sock wool, which create all these amazing patterns.  It inspired me to attempt to knit some socks.  With the help of Helen, who guided me through the process, this was the result.

  1. Just ask my kittens, who have unrolled skeins of yarn, from the a cond floor, down the stairs, around the living room furniture and around the coffee table in the family room.
BTW your socks have about 350 m of yarn in them. That's about 3 times your back garden.
    Nice knitting on your blanket.
