Purple for April.

The top is done, it is one that we decided is not quite there yet. This one will go into the rubbermaid to be quilted in the future. So back to the drawing board we went, the colours got switched out and played with. We woke up to a thunderstorm, lightning, hail and rain this morning. The name of the pattern is " Lighning Strikes", very apt.
These will be in the range we are aiming for, some will work and they will be used.
The backing fabric that will be used is the blue, instead of the green. It is not as heavy as the green, which also had a flaw on the fabric. The green is one of the newer fabrics and try as I might it felt too dense and it could not be finger creased! It is sold as 100% cotton fabric, BUT in truth it did not behave like 100% cotton fabric. For handquilting one do not want dense fabric.
Normally I would not say this, but it needs to be said. With fabric being digitally printed and number of them behave exactly in this manner and it is not good for quilting fabrics. I did a burn a swatch and it was a mixture of cotton and something else. So it is defintely not 100% cotton. As these are mass produced, it also do not breathe well. It is heavy, dense and slippery fabric. Being able to buy fabric online is great, being able to go into the fabric store even better. Spoonflower, prints on 100% Cotton fabric and it is amazing. My great nieces quilt was made with special order fabric from them, the big producers can learn a lot from Spoonflower on Etsy!
These fabrics is for a furry friend. It will be a small quilt.
The backing for the little quilt, bunnies.

  1. Having a lovely stash and getting to shop the stash is a good thing, too.

  2. sorry your fabric didn't work out . I use a variety of cotton for quilting and even hand quilt batiks they are a little denser but I still use them.
