Warm day.

We have red sunflowers! Took awhile but they arrived, did not think it was possible but now seeing them bloom and putting on a display it was worth the wait.
Next to the orange ones.
The first cauliflower. The peppers are just producing fruit,  the black ones turn red or orange after ten days.
The last of the spinach and tomatoes.
Broccoli, carrots and celery. These were the boxes we started off with last year.
More boxes built and lined with weed fabric.  Sewed these to fit the boxes.
The liners were tacked into place with upholstery tacks, as per hubby's request.

Orange blocks.

The collection so far, with the orange blocks. A total of 98 nine patch blocks. Twelve blocks to go until the end of the year, this got the project going all because of the RSC21 colour challenge.  The churn dash blocks that are the alternating blocks is also growing. Will finish the sub units for them before sewing these blocks. A big thank you to our hostess of our colour challenge!!!

Pink sunflower?

This one definitely got me to do a double take.
Next to the orange and yellow sunflowers. This one is growing from inside a bought butternut squash,  when taking the seeds out to cook it. The seeds had already sprouted inside the squash, so it got dropped in a pot outside and forgotten. To our surprise it grew into a plant and produced this fruit. The charm row is done, finished it while watching the last episode of Manifest on Netflix.
Seven more orange nine patch blocks finished for RSC21.
Another vase the stems are done, two more vases to go.
Cranberries and cream, fat eight bundle. These reds is for the red and white quilt. The rest will be used with another bundle of the same to create a quilt which will be donated in the future.

Relaxing start to the week.

Just love the bumble bee arriving and enjoying the sunflowers. Fall has arrived, many trees here are full of leaves changing colour.  This floss pack was ordered over the summer from the Fat Quarter Shop. Love to stitch with Cosmo floss.
Finished the charm row.
Next row is ready to start, all lights again.

Busy day.

All four the vases are applique in place. Next the stems will be done, will spend time adding them. Yesterday we went for a drive down country lanes and also fetching some wood for building more raised veggie garden beds for next year. They will be made and filled with leaves and organic matter until the onset of winter. Come spring it will be ready for the first planting.
The two vases have the bases done different, not intentionally but by accident. It will be left this way,  as nothing is ever suppose to be perfect.Funny how one base was meant for the other more square looking vases and sewn onto one of the more curvy ones. Only noticed this past week and corrected that part?
Another beautiful day outside,  will be out there with my stitching and applique enjoying a slow quiet time outside in the garden.
The top of the mushroom cap for the fall/autumn season has been started. This is the fourth season to be stitched on the piece.

A walk in the woods..

Yesterday we left the house early and drove to a farm with forests not far from home. There we went walking, exploring and hiking along the forrest and trails.  Amidst tall beech, maple and hemlock trees. The fields were filled with wildflowers in bloom, the leaves on the trees still green leaves. It was magical and we enjoyed the hours we spent in nature. Mushrooms in all colours was blooming on logs and on the forrest floor,  a sure sign Autumn is around the corner. Will be starting the final season on this piece, it will be Autumn.
Pulled another row for the charm quilt. Will be doing a row a week again, until they are all done. Enjoy a relaxing day with the family.

Album of Memories.

The finished quilt.
The birthday quilt is finished. It is now waiting for the label, after being washed. It was finished this weekend, past.Hand quilted, made with fabric leftover from Grandma's Country Album I and II.  Both those quilts took a long time to make, got gifted and used for 16 plus years. They are now both retired, well loved and frayed. Just like the Velveteen Rabbit, a book we read to the kids when they were little.
The quilt shrinks after washing it. Love the effect.
The top row.
The right side.
The left side.
The bottom row. It is now gifted and to be loved for many years to come. Happy Birthday!
