Spending time with friends.

This past weekend was spend with quilting friends. On these trips, we reconnect, go for lunch and visit a few quilt shops as well. 

The fabric just seems to follow us home?

The yarn, all non wool.  Future projects?

Kate gave me some of her amazing fabric.  Woman power!

 She is doing two quilts, all raw edge applique.

We try to do a group project.  This time it was a coin purse, from Emmaline bags.  It is small enough, to finish in the time we had to do it.

 This is the first attempt.

Sewing the Perle cotton on, was quite tricky.

Found the perfect buttons for this baby sweater.  It is now finished and will be gifted to a new arrival.

This was the train project.  Stitch markers is a must.  

This piece, turns into a tree with the birds sitting on the branches. An interesting piece to piece together.

It has been nice to have a long weekend, with the whole family together.  We got some sunny days and had a bunny in the garden.  An Oriole came and landed in our maple tree, which all of us saw.

 The Acacia tree is stitched.

Just have to work out, how to finish it.  It will be a Father's day gift.

Machine embroidered the big coin purse sides.

We will be making them this coming weekend.

It will be a first for me, working with the hardware.

Love Entwined, will be worked on next.  Some of the pieces which have been prepped. They will be applique, with lots of stems that need to be sewn in place first.

Last but not least, this baby hat and jersey got finished.  The leftover yarn from one ball of wool.  It still needs buttons.

Sunshine? we are waiting patiently....

Funny how eager we are all awaiting the sunshine.  We have had a lot of rain and then some more.  The weather forecast on TV keep on saying how much warmer and sunny it will be, yet when we reach that day, the goalposts have been moved again.  To a few days in the future, so all their models are not delivering, what they keep on promising.

Finished this baby sweater and hat, both went to Linda's niece, who had a baby girl recently.

Father's Day is coming up in June, have been wanting to stitch the Acacia tree for ages.

Started it, it will be part of a gift for Father's Day.

These two patterns will be used for Christmas gifts, not as pincushions but as something else? One for a cat lover and the other who wants a puppy?

Diane's Jane got some more work.  This week has been a stitching week.  Back to patchwork and applique next week.

Spring Gardening season and some Sunshine.

 

We have beautiful green grass.  The birds outside are building nests and chirping away.  We hear them before it is even light outside.  A sure sign, warmer weather is on its way. As for the sunshine, we await it eagerly!

Did a bit more stitching on Four Seasons.

The bird got some more work.

Started another 5 hour baby sweater.

Used a lint roller to clean up the fluff on the top. What a quick and simple way to prepare the quilt top.

The 21st Birthday Quilt is basted, ready for quilting.

The quilting is done.

 The top, the light because of the overcast skies and rain, looks a lot darker, than it actually is.

Applique quilts.

Love Entwined got some more pieces prepped for applique, it is amazing how much is all in the tiny details of this quilt. It may take a long time to do, but it is worth it.  In between many other projects have been started and finished.

To know how to wash a knitted article, the temperature at which to wash it, is important information.  So the wrapper from the yarn, is given with the knitted item.  It has all this on the label for the yarn. All it needs is a scarp of yarn, a hole punched in the wrapper, with the yarn looped around a button, so it does not get lost along the way.  The other bit to add, is the size of the jersey.

 A seven hour toddler sweater, took longer, as I am a beginner.

The buttons got sewn onto the knitted dress and jersey.

Did some more stitching on my Four Seasons cross-stitch.

 The cardinal got some work as well.  This piece will go to one of the bird lovers in the family, we have a few of those.

Used Anchor variegated green thread from my stash, over the years we try different floss, so it is interesting to see what we have and how we use it.

 Marguerite made me this scarf.  She started weaving the last couple of years, it is made from linen and cotton.  It is super soft and it is a cuddle scarf.  One cannot but help just squeezing and wanting to hug it .  She was worried that I would not get a chance to wear it this season,  no chance of that happening, with this cold weather this late in Spring.  Put it on and wore it on Friday past.  It keeps one snug as a bug, without getting too hot.

As I was wearing it, one realize just how special weaving as a craft, is.  How it makes the world a better place, we definitely need more people who know this wonderful craft and to weave such amazing pieces.  They are works of art in their own right. What a treasure, a gift of untold wealth!
