This and That, at Quilt Canada 2017.

Walking with a friend, there was lots that followed many of us home.
This giant button, is sold as a coaster, it is non slip.

This is what I am going to use it for.
Patterns:
This Quilt was at last years Quilt Canada 2016, except they did not have the name of the pattern displayed.  One of the vendors was selling the pattern.  It is Flower Basket Medallion by Kim Mclean.

 Flying Geese.
 Loved this Squirrel.
Stitching patterns.
Now this, was a very interesting article to use, to display patterns for sale....
Threads that Bind, had a very good sense of humor.
Appliquick, the demos kept this vendor on her feet.
Saw some pretty fabric for smocking.
 Wool Applique.
 Finding Dory?
 Teatime.
Lots to see.
Growth Charts and their hangers: I'm This Big.
 Found some butterfly fabric.

Quilt Canada 2017!

The Peonies are blooming, with all the rain and warm weather.
This year, the amazing quilts just kept on coming.  Above is the center of the Best of Show quilt!
Blocks displayed for Canada's 150 Birthday celebrations.
The Quilts that were in the hall, that made it into the show.
Loved this little owl.
WOW! The books from Quiltmania was at the show and what a treat.  The eye candy in these alone will be the birth of many competition quilts in the future.
Nature create with 3D fabric art. Quilts are pieces of art, in more ways than just warm blankets....

21st Birthdays.

Turning twenty one is a milestone for many people, as this is the number for when one become of age.  Many traditions, in different countries are part of these celebrations.
Just love this funky Australian fabric, with the blue and white.
This is the age when one receive the key to unlock one's future.  This is when one is considered to be all grown up.  Two very special young ladies turned twenty one earlier this year.  To make it extra special, both of them received quilts.

 They both love animals.
 Requested almost the same colours.
They have both received their special quilts and I am very glad that they love them.

Happy Birthday!

Celebrations!

There are many reasons we embrace the times to celebrate milestones in our live.  The birth of babies, birthdays and weddings.  Then comes the Big ones, being married for fifty years.  It is a bit rare today.

Making quilts to acknowledge and remember those amazing achievements, is just one way to do so.
The birth of twin girls.
Similar, with a few differences.
Carol has been knitting socks as well.

Same pattern, bright fabrics.
Love the backing of this quilt, it ties in with the front, which is a bug theme.

Then their are the Big Milestones, this is one is filled with a life time of memories.  Celebrating a couple, married for fifty years, their children and the grandchildren, extended family and friends.

A double wedding ring quilt block was used to showcase the newly weds and them fifty years later.
 Their children.
Lots of memories on the back.
Little notes from family and friends.

Working life.
 Volunteering in the community.
Quilts to keep and remind us of lives lived to the fullest extend and fond memories.
With Spring here and all the rain, the growing season is here.  It has been more like playing in the mud, my veggie patch is planted and growing.
The lavender is blooming and growing.
